HALF WAY THERE :)

WEll we have made it to the half way mark. 4 weeks down 4 to go. I am not sure if we are going to make it.

We have finally figgured out a way to keep the dog happy while we are out. It allows him access to the one stair but that is far better than jumping over the couch.

I scheduled his next check-up with x-rays and he is not going to be a happy camper about being left at the vet's for half a day. I hope they are planning on giving him drugs ;)

I am just hoping now that in those 4 weeks that the bone will be healed and we can start our rehab process. The vet warned that because of the infection the bone might heal slower- aaaaahhhh

anwyay just counting down the days until we have a normal dog again. WE all will be super happy.

Slowly trying to kill his momma

So Cedar has turned into one of those dogs that other people have. He doesn't like being confined in anyway which I knew from his puppy days, however since we have tile and wood floors we need to keep him on the carpet so that he doesn't slip.

The last time he got left alone, we put him in our empty room and he destroyed the molding around the door. Today we needed to all go out and fenced him in the living room thinking that it would work better.

We were WRONG.

We come home and the fence is exactly where we left it, however the dog is on the wrong side. He somehow managed to escape (we think over the coffee table onto the couch and over the arm. Then he had what could be described as the best dog day ever. Counter surfing, getting into the garbage, humping his bed and god knows what else he did before we got back.

He is limping a little more but hopefully he is just sore from doing too much and hasn't hurt himself.

I swear this dog is going to be the death of me. It's a really good thing that I love him

Why the infection?

So the drain came out today which is great and his leg is healing nicely. They re-wrapped it because the hole where the drain came out was still weeping. He goes back one more time in a couple of days to check the leg again.

Talking to the vet about the cultures that they took, it turns out that he had a Strep infection. That is why he got so sick so fast. They figgure that he had a pocket of it and that it burst flooding his body with it and making him really sick. My poor baby.

He is doing great now, we are just waiting for the bandage to come off and then he can happily resume his 5 minute walk out the front door. He gets really excited to go out the front door since in 3 weeks he has only gone out the back to go potty.

I can't wait until this is all over and we are back to complaining about walking the dog twice a day. i didn't think that I would actually miss dog walking but I really do.

So he's home

Well we finally got our baby back from the vet. He has a bandage from knee to toes and a drain that we have to empty every 6 hours.

He is back to post-op whining and crying. It is so hard to see him so zonked and so pathetic.

Looks like Daddy is sleeping on the floor again.
